ISRC and EAN/UPC
When you create a release, two types of identification codes are important: ISRC codes and EAN/UPC codes.
These codes help platforms, shops and accounting systems identify your music correctly. They are needed for distribution, reporting and invoicing.
What is an ISRC?
An ISRC, short for International Standard Recording Code, is a unique code for one specific recording.
This means that each individual track needs its own ISRC. If you release different versions of the same track, for example a remix, radio edit or instrumental version, each version also needs its own ISRC.
In short:
One track or version = one ISRC
What is an EAN/UPC?
An EAN, also referred to as UPC, GTIN or barcode, is a unique code for the entire release.
This means the EAN/UPC does not identify one single track, but the full product, for example a single, EP or album.
In short:
One release/product = one EAN/UPC
Do I need to provide my own codes?
No, you do not have to provide your own codes.
If you already have your own ISRCs or EAN/UPC codes, you can enter them during the release setup. If you do not provide your own codes, dig dis! can generate them for you automatically.
The costs are:
ISRC code: €0.75 per code
EAN/UPC code: €1.00 per code
Where can I find my ISRC or barcode?
You can view your ISRC and EAN/UPC codes at any time in rokket!.
Go to Products > Meta. There, you can open your releases and check the metadata, including the assigned ISRCs and barcode information.
