Spotify Canvas

Spotify Canvas is a short looping visual that appears in the Spotify app while a track is playing. It gives artists the option to add a moving visual element to their music and make the listening experience more recognizable and engaging.

Canvas is managed directly in Spotify for Artists. This means that artists need access to their Spotify for Artists profile in order to upload or edit a Canvas for their tracks .

If you want to use Canvas, we recommend first claiming your artist profile in Spotify for Artists. Once your release is live and visible there, you can upload a Canvas directly in your dashboard.

Important to know

Canvas is not uploaded through dig dis! or through the release delivery process. It must be added separately in Spotify for Artists after the release is available on Spotify .

For Various Artists releases or compilations, there may be limitations. In these cases, a label usually cannot upload Canvas for all tracks centrally. The relevant artist often needs to claim their Spotify for Artists profile and upload the Canvas themselves

Why use Canvas

Spotify has shared that Canvas can have a positive effect on user engagement. According to Spotify, tracks with Canvas may see:

  • a 5% increase in streams
  • a 1.4% increase in saves
  • a 20% increase in adds to user playlists
  • a 9% increase in artist profile visits
