2. Pitch your track

  1. Navigate to the "Music" section and select the "Upcoming" tab.
  2. Locate the release / track you wish to pitch for playlist consideration.
  3. Click on "Pitch a song" to select a track from the release that you want to pitch.
  4. Enter the location of your hometown or your current location.
  5. Fill in the song details such as genre, moods, etc.
  6. Add a description of the song. Refer to the next paragraph "Tell a story behind the song!" for guidance.
  7. Submit your pitch.

Note: Unfortunately, pitching is not available for products labeled as "Various Artists." We recommend splitting your products into individual tracks to enable pitching. Please ensure all data entered is accurate!

3. Tell a story behind the song!

When pitching your track to Spotify, it's important to explain why your song is special and why it should be included in their playlists. Focus on showing the quality of the song!

Unlike on Beatport where DJ feedback might help, on Spotify, feedback from DJs only matters if the DJ is famous worldwide. Instead, Spotify really likes to hear the story about your music. When you describe your track, include:

  • The creation process: Talk about where and with whom the track was produced.
  • Inspiration and concept: Share the ideas behind the song and the instruments used.
  • Your recent successes on Spotify: Mention if your music has been featured on a Spotify playlist or has gotten a lot of streams.

The most important thing when pitching is to share the key details about your track. It’s not about how much you say, but how interesting and relevant your information is. Make sure to highlight the best parts of your track and its story.

4. Submit the pitch and don’t forget to promote your Spotify release.

Please keep in mind that you can pitch the same artist only every 8 days on Spotify. If you have an artist that plans to release more than one release in the near future, please keep in mind that you will have to wait 2 weeks to be included in the algorithmic release radar playlist.

This timing is important for maximizing the exposure of each release.
